How To

Western Method

Standard Instructions

  1. Slip the next two stitches individually onto the left needle as if to knit.
  2. Insert the right needle through the front loops of both slipped stitches from back to front.
  3. Knit the two slipped stitches together through the back loops.

Modified Instructions

The modified method for the slip slip knit twists the second stitch of the decrease, which in certain situations can cause it to lay flatter and be less stretched out.

  1. Slip the first stitch onto the left needle as if to knit.
  2. Slip the second stitch onto the left needle as if to purl.
  3. Insert the right needle through the front loops of both slipped stitches on the left needle from back to front.
